More about the Tree

Uses and Benefits:

A majestic tree with smooth gray bark and edible nuts (beech mast), historically ground into flour or roasted. The wood is strong and fine-grained, ideal for furniture, flooring, and tool handles. Beech forests support diverse wildlife, and the tree’s dense canopy provides excellent shade.

Fun facts:

Beech nuts (mast) were Neolithic survival food - archaeologists find them in ancient middens.

Mature beeches can live 300+ years and "remember" centuries of climate changes in their rings.

The smooth bark was once used as parchment.
